About Mr. Liard

Welcome to Mr. Liard's "Home Page" as of September 1999.

I have been teaching for over 30 years. I am returning to BMR after teaching in Vermont for the past 12 years. My former school was Canaan Memorial High School on the border of Canada, New Hampshire and close to the Connecticut River in a town called Canaan. I am very happy to be back home here and teaching in the Blackstone-Millville school system again. After high school at Mount Saint Charles Academy in Woonsocket, RI.

I attended Benedictine College  in Atchison, Kansas. There I received a Bachelor of Science degree in Health, Physical Education and Recreation. I played varsity football, basketball, rugby and tennis.  After college in Kansas, I returned home to Millville, Massachusetts to become a member of the Blackstone Millville Regional High School teaching staff. Coaching has been a large part of my life. I coached at the Blackstone-Millville Regional High School, Canaan Memorial High School and...at Dean College  in Franklin, Massachusetts.

In 1987 I was offered and accepted a teaching job in Canaan, Vermont. I coached Varsity Boys Soccer, Basketball and Baseball there for six straight years before choosing to coach only Soccer in 1996. Our teams there were very successful making the playoffs on a regular basis often seeded  #4 or higher. We even won a STATE CHAMPIONSHIP in soccer, the first one in the school's history!!!

Here at BMR...  I coached from 2002 - 2006 during which time our Girls Varsity team qualified for its first ever post season playoff berth. Our baseball team qualified for two post season playoff appearances one in 2005 and defeated BVT to go on to the quarter finals and again in 2006 finishing with a seeding of 4th in Division II Central Massachusetts.

My wife Linda, and I have three adult children and live in Millville. During the summer I spend a lot of time traveling around the Northeast working at various festivals and fairs. When not working in the summer most of my free time is spent hiking on the high ridge trails of the White Mountain National Forest on the Appalachian Trail.
